Those flat earth people must be insane ... or maybe just well adjusted to their idiosyncrasies.

I got together with my very first boyfriend in highschool based on our mutual (entirely insincere) insistance that the world was pyramidal....

My partner loves to flirt with every outlandish theory and conspiracy there is, including flat earth theory. He is sometimes known to wear tin foil on his head. It drives me a bit crazy but I love him to bits. We're a weird mob at our place.

Yesterday was my first full day back at work and boy it knocked me out. I slept well last night but I am still quite tired today, so enjoying the rare indulgence of actually caffeinated tea!!
I have to be careful around caffeine because it affects me very strongly...
I am gradually getting well, and work has been PHENOMENAL with regards to me taking so much time off - it helps that I am far from being alone; this bug has swept through the office and we are dropping like flies. I am taking it pretty easy (luckily big project has been pushed back a month so I have plenty of time up my sleeve right now), and pretty much marinating myself into a state of bliss with the fragrance of old fashioned freesias picked on the way to work. Writing this on my lunch break.
I hope to be coming good over the weekend as I have a fair bit of work to do, getting ready for ......
wait for it
the new chickens!!
That’s right!
I am getting four young bantam chicks on Saturday (and doing a 4 hour roundtrip on public transport to do it - yeesh).
They are actually too young to go out into the coop right away and will need to be kept inside for a couple of weeks, which is kind of a hassle, but they are a perfect mix of desirable breeds for me and much earlier in the season than anything else that is happening, so I jumped in. Here is the very poor quality pic on Gumtree.
The white one is a splash Australorp, The one hiding sort of behind her to the right is a Gold Spangled Hamburg, and the two little ones making a dash of screen to the right a Rhode Island Reds. I'm not taking the two black Leghorns on the left.
Watch this space for many (really many more than you will care for) chooky updates. I am BEYOND excited!!
Hubs and I have now reached complete agreement on future chicken coop plans, and it is not just an acceptable compromise, but something that we are both TRULY happy with, which just goes to show that my ‘perfect’ solution was very far indeed from being the only thing that would work to make me happy. Good to keep in mind.
Makes me glad that my temper tantrum was fairly mild and quite short lived, AND I apologised about it afterwards. Now if I can just avoid this same flaw in the future….
Anyhoo, the new chooks will stay inside for a while, then in the old coop for a bit THEN we will be building an super new flash whizzbang type coop along the lines of this:
Or this (depending on how big we go).
And yes that is a LOT of space for four bantam chooks, so I will just need to get more chickens….
We're going through These Guys who seem excellent at what they do and have been great to communicate with.
Quite apart from chooks I have a number of gardening chores that need doing at this all important Springtime juncture, so I hope I am back on my feet properly soon and get back into my completely disrupted routine!! I have not been to the gym, or worked in the yard, or done anything much excpet watch TV - I have been really missing the rest of my life.
