my cousin said my mum was sooo upset about my uncle passing and she told the nurses and my cousin not to ring me up

Oooohh @Shaz51 perhaps Mum does not want to burden you with her grief or she may feel she needs to be strong for you.

Do you feel it would be helpful to you to share some tears with Mum?

Perhaps letting her know it is ok for her to cry or express her grief, that you both miss the love and support that your uncle gave @Shaz51, whilst one opportunity may have been missed,  others may present and
