Hello, I am a 39 year old female and struggling with voices. I am lucky to have ndis support including Ot. But the strategies are hard to do and work. Anyone else?

I don't know either if strategies help but sometimes but I'm lucky I have a pet. Maybe you know a friend or family member with an animal or have a support worker that could take you to visit an animal shelter. Plenty of Yoshi's to cuddle 🤗 .the voices can go when you just think about and play with an animal for a bit perhaps. throwing a ball or toy has some different register in my head.

Hello @SuperMario .
Just wanted to say Hi and that I support you. My psychosis has usually been delusions rather than voices.
Getting on top of any build up of everyday stresses, stepping back from any family conflict, catching up on any sleep deficit and temporarily increasing my meds all seem to help.
And yeah @Sbee my cat helps keep me grounded.
For a time I did seem to struggle with voices but my psychiatrist changed my meds. That was a loooong time ago.

Thank you. I have 2 cats called pippin and George. They sleep with me every night and I love taking care of them. I love listening to music with noise cancellation head phones. These things help but still don’t make things go away. [edited by moderator]

Thank you. I struggle with reality/ what’s real and not real a lot but in the night time the voices make me find sleep challenging. I am on [editd by moderator] meds but even on it, I get “symptoms”. Although I only changed a 2 weeks ago to this med. I think your advice is good thank you.

Hey there @SuperMario ,
Thank you for sharing.
Just a quick note, we had to edit out the names of the medication you are taking to be in line with our Community Guidelines. You can read these guidelines here: https://saneforums.org/t5/help/faqpage/title/community-guidelines
I don't have personal experience with psychosis, however, people have suggested giving an hour to so to these voices. Does that work?

It's good you have some strategies @SuperMario . And 2 cats are more than twice as good. I lost one a couple of years ago but Tiger is flourishing as an only cat.
