@Scruffy I am so sorry Scruffy ... are you in a safe place now? It is a terrible position for you to be in ....  you really have to take care of yourself first as you cannot help him unless you do. 

The AVO not only protects you but him as well, as you dont want him accidently hurting you. Unfortunately what you say is true you have offered help and it is up to him to take the first steps.
