@Jacques hey, just finished watching it. It was very upsetting for me, I think because I see so much of myself in these individuals. It's also really scary for me to think that I very nearly ended up in a MHU a few times over the last couple of years. Makes me extra grateful for my GP who fought for me, he kept saying it would be worse for me in there.
@CherryBomb it was on the same time as the previous nights. It's also availiable now on ABC iView, which is great.
I feel silly for asking, but what is a moment of wellness??

I'm going to tune into now. It might be good to have a conversation about it. Could potentially give us some ideas to put forward on Topic Tuesday coming up - we will have the coordinator of Stigma Watch and ex-journo joining us.

No need to feel silly @Crazy_Bug_Lady, maybe it's just the best choice of words on my behalf.
'Wellness'... hmmm, I guess it's not feeling unwell, feeling 'good' and 'healthy' maybe. Does that make sense?
Having a look at ABC iView now.

Hi @Crazy_Bug_Lady,
It was so upsetting for me, to know Karen has been in one of those places and to know i will be in one one day, i don't know how i am going to cope when it happens.
i saw so much of myself in the man comming off the drugs, he was agoraphobic, and SH, he was the image of my MH problems, i was shaking so bad last night, i could not sleep, i just sat in the feotal position and rocked back and forth

Thanks heaps @Jacques. I took the new profile photo near where I used to live a few years ago. Just recently found it again on the computer. Thought it was about time I 'graduated' to having my own photo to represent me on the forum. I love the smell of frangipani.
Mental Health Week has been interesting. I've been watching some of the ABC TV shows too. Lots of pain and hopeful moments too. My mum told me on the phone that she better understood some of what I have gone through after seeing one of the shows. I appreciated that.
Hi @CherryBomb, @Crazy_Bug_Lady, great to see you again. Hellos all round to anyone else who joins us tonight. 🙂

I thought it was a frangapani, i didn't want to say anything, i didn't want to look like an idiot.
I am glad it helped your family understand, i think my mum really struggled with seeing it, she noticed how bad i am when she saw those patients, some of them where in a better state of mind than me!!!!!
Hi @Appleblossom, i have liked reading your posts this week, sorry but i had nothing to add to them, but i liked reading them, you have such a way with words, you are such a learned person, so much life experiance, you are such an asset to this forum

@CherryBomb Watching Changing Minds helped me understand more the different manifestations of mental health issues. I thought the people in the MHU were very brave to allow themselves to be filmed under such vulnerable circumstances. I think there may be some benefit in revealing things like this but there is also something a bit voyeuristic about it too as television (a bit like 'Big Brother' for the mentally challenged). I wasn't traumatised by watching the show but it did make me more determined than ever not to be admitted to a MHU if possible.
