Good Morning my beautiful Soul Sister @Former-Member
Thank-you for sharing your furry family with the garden 🙂 I'm not so game as to put up pictures, my furry friends go everywhere with me and I worry that it would identify me. But I think I might have a boyfriend for your Ruby! 😄 . . . well at least a friend 🙂 Don't worry he's had the snip, there won't be any puppies 😄 I get all my animals desexed {as I am myself!} . . . no babies in this household {I don't think the World is a safe place for them}. The youngest member of my furry family is an American Staffordshire Terrier, and he's beautiful - both inside and out 🙂 They say he's a blue-black, but I'd say he's bronze or maybe pearl-bronze, he literally changes colour depending on the light; and like most Staffies, in fact most dogs, he's just one big bundle of love He would love a safe garden to run and play in and absolutely love one of his own 'kind' to play with. He can be a bit much for my Shih Tzu x Maltese sometimes, though the little fella is definately the boss. In fact I have to feed them seperately to stop the little fella marching over and eating his dinner, because the young fella will just sit back and let him! I've installed a few more manners into the young fella, he won't eat until he sits and I click my fingers over his bowl; the little fella sees food and figures, it's for eating . . . as quickly as possible 🙂 😄
I also have a cat, a domestic short haired, grey tabby and white; he's the eldest in the family, over 10 years {my muddled brain won't tell me exactly how old}. He excells in hunting, I've seen him catch a bird mid-air! I know it's sad for the little bird, but the skill is undeniable. He's past hunting now {all the little birds sigh with relief}, though he's still very active - he comes for walks with us and even comes camping {though it's been some years, he's coming on the next one! :)}.
I used to work for an organization that rescued abused animals, that's where I first came across the 'pit bulls'. A breed that was reknowned for thier aggression, even the organization I worked for wouldn't re-house them, we only cared for them while their owners went through court, unfortunately after that they were put down. And yes I saw, too many times, their ability to fight {we had to keep an empty pen between them, or they would end each other through the wire}; but what really struck me was their ability to love! They only did what they did because their previous owners had taught them that that was the ultimate way to make them happy {and the reality was because it made them money, they would bet on the outcome of the fight in the pit}. All these animals wanted was a kind word and a pat, they would cling to me with their front paws - the only possible thing to call it was a hug! I never EVER came across one that was aggressive to Humans, and these animals had been horrifically abused, not only in the pits, but by their owners - to supposedly make them aggressive.
So perhaps we need to put a 2nd floor, or a 3rd, to fit all of our furry families - they are a very important part of our community 🙂
Love you
Niqua

@Former-Member Thank you soooo much for the giggle you gave me as I read about the...snip...in your post. It seems the cubby house has become the animal rescue area in the garden, so my Maggie-May will just sit back and watch all the action. She's a rescue, though these days she rescues me. How privileged we are to have these treasures keeping us alive.
@Former-Member Your family are delightful, entertaining and every other cute name that can be added. Thankyou for sharing.

Hello @Maggie @CheerBear @Shaz51 @Faith-and-Hope and all garden friends. I think we need a Red Tree in honour of Shawn Tan's. Does any one else know that book?

@Former-Member Bella!! Your furry friends sound delightful! What a brave Boaz! Did he get lots of pats for being such a hero? It mush have been so frightening for you though. My furry friend sleeps at the end of my bed, he is a beautiful boy who I love to death.

@Faith-and-Hope Shaun Tan is an Australian artist, writer and film maker. On the surface, The Red Tree is a kids book, but it's multilayered. It starts with 'sometimes the day begins with nothing to look forward to.' It is quite sombre, and many people believe it's about depression. It's hopeful in the end when the red tree grows. I love it.
