Mornin' peeps!
Out and about this morning, and I have my computer with me and an idea came to me I would like to share with you.
Going through challenges can be liked to driving at night on an unfamiliar road, can't it? When we first start down this journey, everything is unfamiliar and a little scary, especially if we have never travelled this road before. On a personal note, my mother suffered from agoraphobia and travelling somewhere unfamiliar was truly terrifying for her...hence this story popping into my noggin. I remember one time, we were coming home from visiting my dad's brother and the quickest route home was along a road which saddled a ravine. It was actually quite a pretty drive, however, for my mother, it was a horror story. I remember her becoming hysterical to the point we were forced to turn around and go the long way. RIP mum.
Mental health challenges can be like that too. All these thoughts pop up in our mind, worries and anxieties and they can scare the hell out of us. Even worse, it can seem like its night to us as well and the fact we don't know what is "out there" can make it ten times worse. Sometimes it can stop us in our tracks and immobilise us.
But consider this: You don't have to travel the whole way. Nope. As a matter of fact, you cannot see the whole way - so it could be good, could be bad, could be neutral...you have no way of knowing in advance, right? Shadows in the dark can look scary...even a mouse can look a lot bigger in shadow?
But you have some allies riding with you on your journey: the headlights, your brakes and your accelerator and you are in your car, surrounded by a protective shell. You cannot possibly see the whole way, but you can see as far as the headlights. You can even put the high beams on should you need to - and we all know, the nasties hate being exposed to light, don't we? You have the ability to approach with caution (brakes) or to charge ahead if need be (accelerator) and get out of danger. Point is, you are more in control than you think and you own the car.
I have been able to lucid dream since I was a teenager and have studied dreams ever since. For those who don't know, lucid dreaming is the ability to become aware you are dreaming and then control aspects of it - the more you practice, the better you get. Dreams communicate through symbols and are rarely literal. Ironically, a car in a dream represents your journey through life. Interesting hey? Now, put that sucker in gear and go for it....you are stronger and more protected than you think. When things seem a bit overwhelming, just remember...you can always see the way ahead and you always get some warning and you are still here right? Peace.😊
