I am Seriouslysad and I’m 23 and looking to chat with people who are 21 and older.
Thank you.
Also I am rather lonely and struggle with spending time with others whether that be with people in real life or online.
I always seem to engage in self-destructive words and stuff whenever anyone is being nice to me.

Hey @Seriouslysad ,
Welcome to the forums. It's great to have you with us. I know you mentioned that you always seem to engage in self-destructive words when someone is nice to you.
I wonder if this is a way to protect yourself so you don't get hurt? Or is it usally an emotional reaction?
As for your comment about being over 21 years old - just to let you know, this is a site for those who are over 18 years and MOST members are definitely over 21, including myself!
What are some things you enjoy doing? Hobbies?
yesterday
That’s good to hear about the age thing. I generally like to interacted with people who are 21 or older just because of privacy and legality.
also my hobbies? I guess you could say is just sort of doing nothing playing some retro games or Nintendo stuff and movies and shows but that’s about it.
as for the first two things? I don’t know I guess I’m just weird. But I always seem to just make myself feel worse I think because of my entire family on both sides just being really toxic and everything

Hi @Seriouslysad . Welcome to the forums! 🙂

Do you think you could elaborate?
Is it a case that you understand how/why your words are self-destructive, or is it more a case that you think your behaving properly, but the other parties aren't responding how you expect them to?
yesterday
I guess? I don’t really know how to describe it. I’m sorry. are you and the other person a staff member?
yesterday
I'm a peer worker @Seriouslysad . So I've had my far share of mental health challenges in my life...
And yeah, I've certainly felt isolated at times.
I've also blurted things out that I sincerely regret later.
We are human.
What are you up to tonight? Anything spesh?
yesterday
What is spesh? Is that like a 90s term or something?
Also, what do you mean by peer worker?
yesterday
Sorry! "Spesh" as in "special" @Seriouslysad
From the 90s? I don't know.
Peer workers are workers with lived experience who use their experiences to build connection and rapport with people. They don't do therapy or engage in any clinical stuff I guess.
Put it this way. In my own Mental health journey, I struggled with a lot of clinical staff, but I found I could relate to peers workers and that really helped my recovery.
yesterday
Wait, so peer workers are like anybody else? So not staff?

I'm not staff; just a regular forum member. 🙂

Do you think it might help to talk about some of the specific incidents where you've engaged in this self-destructive behavior?
If you aren't comfortable talking about it, that's fine, of course.
