Thanks for reply. @Former-Member Take care of you.
I am aware of the "gamer arguments" and have accepted it .. known lots of IT nerdy types etc etc .. my cousin had heaps of LAN .. parties .. etc .. not totally anti computers .. but see too many problems with it too. I played "space invaders" once ... ha ha ... Maybe your kids have been socialised enough to have plenty of peers to game with ... you have family around you etc .. my son has flown solo a bit too much and I have tried to get into it to reduce his isolation too .. but just cant get the intensity ... spending too much time on games has not been an option for me ... tonight he gamed with a singing friend who I saw today .. who is quite computer literate ... that made me feel relieved .. moving into his own future and letting go of his parents.
Still I am happy to look at the best TED talks on it. What do you reccommend.

It's ok @Appleblossom. It seems like you are well on top of it all. I agree it works if they have online friends to play with. That seems a pretty key ingredient. I guess I just see people especially our generation and above who wipe these kids off as pretty much losers. I don't believe that. I do understand your worry a little more though now about him having online friends to interact with. My son tends to play with his old school friends and others who have joined in along the way. Although he rarely sees them in person anymore if at all he has maintained a really good online relationship with them. For him gaming has filled a void of not being able to play sport for the past 4 years due to injuries. My oldest also plays online but is more solo with it and more competitive. It is not an obsession with him though and he still plays sport when he can too. We have the sport gene rather than music or art in my family. I guess in the end it is really how well our kids are coping with life that tells if it is healthy or if it could be curbed. You know your situation better. I saw one talk I can't remember what it was called and she said if you wanted to fix a major problem in society give it to gamers to solve as they communicate and collaborate better than non gamers. She was trying to invent games that looked at solving some of the worlds big problems to encourage gamers to become involved. Be well 💜🤗

Thanks for the message @Appleblossom - it is always good to hear from you 🙂
I think I will start with what is easier for me to talk about and that is the volunteer work and so far I am really enjoying this and I have my induction training next week. I am glad you are enjoying your volunteer work too- everyone seems to get on well. Btw thanks for your kind words - you are a very nice person @Appleblossom
I am not sure what to do with my specialist/therapist atm- I will be seeing her again on the 13th Dec. At this time I can't see myself coping without her and that is really bothering me. I know I need to start to think about what will be best for me in the longterm.
