Re: Taking the plunge

Bananas day here 🍌 Gig was pretty busy as it is these days. So weird doing it from home but so thankful we still can. It very much helps me stay connected and less stuck in this tiny world of our house.

It is back to school for us tomorrow and I had to pick up a school from home pack to do that. It meant calling the office and having someone pass it through the gates. I was hit with big sadness walking up to our locked up school and seeing someone only through gates 🙁

Tonight we sat planning our school day tomorrow. All of my crew have very different needs and require different levels of support. School has struggled to put together any more than a general guide and some ideas for how to structure a day, which I understand. More is coming but it's going to take a couple of weeks. School from home is going to be a huge challenge for so many parents (me very much included). I am feeling overwhelmed by it tonight. This is starting to get pretty hard in a number of ways.

The kids do have a very cool task set though - a month long Lego challenge ( @TheVorticon you might smile at that). I'd been thinking of getting them some lockdown Lego for a little while. They have quite a bit of Lego but it's all sets of certain things that are difficult to build beyond what the set is. I bought new Lego today. All classic blocks including some wheels and gear kind of stuff. We went through the old sets to get people and random bits to add to it. Anything that helps is what I feel like I need to do for now. New Lego will help (hopefully)

How's this for colour @Maggie ?

And (seeing as I had to log on to my laptop to post a pic) I can show you more colour in our chalk too

🌈😍 That's my good for today.

🧡 to you @outlander

Hope there has been some good in the day for everyone.

Re: Taking the plunge

looks like an explosion of colour (and probably mess 😏) with that lego @CheerBear

Re: Taking the plunge

So cool about the lego challenge and the new blocks @CheerBear! 😄 Looks like a great collection in the pic 🙂

Re: Taking the plunge

Good luck with your home schooling @CheerBear
The kids here have only just started their holidays but have been home 3 weeks prior. Its been quite challanging to say the least but id expect many parents carers and teachers and kids too would be finding these times quite difficult t o navigate. Hopefully within the next few weeks the kids will be allowed to start going back to school again

Re: Taking the plunge

They have until mid July off from school @outlander which is bonkers. I am finding it hard to wind down tonight, probably because I am thinking about it.

You're up late (I think?). Are you OK?

Re: Taking the plunge

Thats crazy @CheerBear
We havent got a timeline yet but we know when holidays are over the first 2 weeks will be online. The premier here made mention of discussing school abit closer to when they are suppose to goback but they'd def be off in the first few weeks to start with.
Hopefully if numbers get lower and stay lower and more recoveries theyll allow the kids in your state to go back sooner then july.

Im usually up late just havent been online much latley. Its just one of 'those' sorts of nights i guess, ive put a movie on for now.

Is there something you can do thatll help you wibd down abit?

Re: Taking the plunge

I highly doubt we'll go back before term 3 @outlander. They've been very clear about term 2 being remote. School hols are all over the place as far as when they've started and ended around Australia this time. They started here 2 and a bit weeks ago, though were brought forward nearly a week. My kids had the week before off too so they've been home for four weeks already. It will be 17 weeks if it goes to term 3 (not that I have counted :face_with_rolling_eyes:). It is tough for parents and kid carers. Nothing we can do to change it though.

Sorry you're having one of those nights. They suck. Is the movie any good?

I don't know about winding down outlander. I'm sure there's plenty I could do but right now it's like a buzz in my head. I might put some random youtube something on to see if it can quieten the buzz.

Re: Taking the plunge

Thats a long time @CheerBear
As much as we love them, sometimes school is respite for parents too.

Im watching Sing-the kids movie. I think ive watched it 100 times now but its the closest and easiest to get without disturbing pop.

Ill be up for a while yet if chatting helps at all

Re: Taking the plunge

School is definitely respite @outlander, and time for me to do the things I need to do to keep the house going and to keep myself going. This long at home like this is overwhelming to think about at times.

Sing is a good one, though I too have done my fair share of Sing watching. Nice, happy one for you.

I am giving myself 15 minutes to settle and if it doesn't happen I will take something to make it happen 👍

Thanks for the company. Its nice to catch up with you. Sending you big love. I can only imagine how hard it's been/is for you 😘

Re: Taking the plunge

Yep i feel much the same @CheerBear i help with lots of the school too. It gets overwhelming just by presence sometimes even though its not intentional more just that we need some breathing space to do our own thing too.

Hoping you might be tired enough to sleep before meds come out but at least there an option 🙏
Goodnight CB, thanks for the chat sending love to you too 💞🌻
