Hi everyone,
Next Monday I check into a peer-run recovery centre for a week. I am just wondering if anyone out there in forum land ever been to one? I am more than a little nervous about what to expect really. I'd appreciate your opinions both the good/the bad/the ugly.

Hi @Queenie
I have not personally been in such recovery centres, only private psych wards some years back after suffering post natal depression, but wanted to wish you the best possible positive experience and recovery. Wanted you to know that I will be thinking of you and that I look forward to reading about it when you can post again. Hope it's turns out to be all you are looking for xx

Hey @Former-Member, @utopia and @Appleblossom for replying. My week's stay was actually very beneficial. It was a self cater facility (so you bring along your own food), and was a large house with a couple of others. It was really helpful in that each day you meet with a peer support worker to work on your recovery goals from a standpoint which includes more than just mental health. It was from a holistic point of view, taking in all aspect of life (relationships, social networks, self-esteem, work, nutrition, physical health, mental health etc). It was very refreshing actually and I'd definitely consider staying there again before things bottle up to explosion/implosion stage.

Good to hear it helped. @Queenie
Sounds like the right approach.
I hope there are more PEER SUPPORT services around.
