Re: A long rave

Hey @PeppiPatty  really love the dinosaur cartoon - LOL!!

I was in public housing for 11 years until I came here.  Had another stint of it back in the 90's too but foolishly gave up my terrace house in Glebe to go off on a manic adventure - oh the stories I could tell!  I don't own the place I'm in, my brother and his wife do, but they are comitted to helping me stay stable so I think I'll be here for some time.  Are you still in public housing?  How is it where you are?

@greenpea I really hope your leg heals swiftly and you're not in too much pain and that you can rest it a lot today.

Good morning, @greenpea, more hopes to add to @eth's, that your leg heals fast and you might get out walking again soon. oxxo

Re: A long rave

Hi @Mazarita  Very sorry to hear you're worried about someone in your life  I'm wondering if it's that new 'friend' who rang you at 5am last week.  If you want to talk about that 'weird thing that happened' I'm here.

Started my day hanging out washing and washing dishes before I turned on the computer.  Trying to start a new habit for a healthier daily routine after discussion about it with my psychologist yesterday.  Just do one thing to start the day and see if it feeds into more motivation.

Re: A long rave

@eth, yes it is that same person, and that was the weird thing happened in art group yesterday. I've been fearful of her but I believe it is largely paranoia. I'm kind of exercising CBT kinds of thoughts about it. This kind of freakout has happened at different times in my life.

I won't go into what the weird thing was. I'm trying to keep myself safe by using some mind exercises my psychologist has given me, and one my close friend gave me today too. These things have been repeated in my mind a lot overnight and I feel better now that daylight's here.

Hanging out your washing and doing dishes before turning on the computer is a great idea. I'd have to first turn my computer off sometimes. I did reboot it earlier because I was slightly hacked on my personal email account. Also been doing other safety stuff on the computer to try to minimise the problem. Overnight geek girl stuff, but needs to be done.

Re: A long rave

@eth, and also... just successfully opted out of 'My Health Record'. I'm concerned about security of data and privacy, especially who gets access to the records aside from doctors, hospitals and pharmacists. I don't want my whole mental health record for many to see really. I'm willing to take the risk of emergencies for peace of mind on those other levels.

Re: A long rave

@Mazarita sorry for the delay - I was reading the website of the organisation I've been referred to for co-ordination of supports, which NDIS is funding me for.  Still navigating a complex map of putting the plan into action.

What a shame that person has brought such anxiety into your life.  I feel for you with the night time brain busyness over it.  It happened to me with someone a few years ago.  Glad to hear you are using your cbt and other techniques to deal with your feelings, but also here to remind you that you can have boundaries on her involvement in your life.  If she persists in humbugging you maybe talk with the art class co-ordinator about it and they might have a quiet word with her.  Not sure what else to suggest at this point.

With the woman who did it to me, I got to know her 1 other friend who decided after some months of the problem (and many other acute situations with her including abusing me severely) to call the hospital and she ended up being admitted for a time. Part of the problem was she was abusing her medications, using unprescribed black market pills and smoking green constantly.   I decided to cease all contact (after becoming hypomanic from the stress of it and also breaking out in stress-caused cold sores).  She rang me heaps of times and it got to the point where I would hang up as soon as I knew it was her, and even threatened to get police involved.  Eventually she stopped.

Re My Health Record - I thought you had to enrol in it before your details were on the record.  Do you mean that it happens automatically and that you have to opt out to prevent it or did you initially enrol in it?

Here's the link, @eth...

https://www.myhealthrecord.gov.au/for-you-your-family/opt-out-my-health-record

Yes, we need to opt out before 15 October 2018 if we don't want a record set up for us automatically. The sooner the better because once one is set up it can be perhaps impossible to remove the records already uploaded to it. I'm getting this from reading news reports on the web. May be 'fake news' but I always worry about my privacy in relation to my mental health especially.

Re: A long rave

Morning @Mazarita and @eth Smiley Happy Just letting you know there is a thread over here called My health online where some have discussed this. Margot also posted some good resources in there with info on both the pro's and con's to make an informed decision. You might find it useful!

Re: A long rave

Hi @Exoplanet Smiley Very Happy Heart Wonder what you will do with this day. Maybe it's a rest day for you too?
