Re: 12 months post suicide attempt
With you on the diagnosis issue. Mr Darcy still has a "diagnosis hypothesis".
Is Mr Shaz amenable to you speaking to his doc? Fortunately Mr D is and I have been able to ask why he was given particular meds that I could not reconcile to his working diagnosis.
As Mr D's enduring guardian I will not accept a prescription without him (really me, he understands little) knowing why a drug is being offered, what are the expected benefits vs risk and when will a review occur. I ask hubby if he is happy with the arrangements before we commence administration. Once started I dispense meds under docs orders and expect him to take them (follow through on the commitment) so having review dates and agreed treatment plan does help.
Hope you are going OK and that Mr Shaz will resume his meds.
Darcy

Re: 12 months post suicide attempt
Hi @Former-Member
mr Shaz has cancelled all help from the MI team ect , so we are on our own now
He wanted to see the specialist that put him on the meds last august but we will have to go through everything again , and mr shaz does not want to do that
so I said to him last night I was going to make a doctor`s appoinment for him to have a review of the meds and try to get in touch with the specialist again , so he has taken his meds today

Re: 12 months post suicide attempt
I think it becomes too hard for our loved ones and sometimes, just sometimes they need us to step in ...
Please don't be afraid to ask the doctors about any of your concerns in relation to past or present treatment. I think they get so busy they forget or assume, particularly if there is a long history.
One thing I did do which I think has proved valuable was to put together a concise mental health history with diagnoses, treatments & responses, highlighting significant events.
