Needing advice on moving forward

Hi all I'm only new here but I'm desperate for some help on how to move forward from my previous marriage that turned out to be a nightmare for me. I've since found a woman that treats me like a king and I've never been so happy in life yet my past keeps popping up and I say or word things the wrong way, I'm always defensive and my actions are causing bad reactions for my new relationship. I really want to move forward and for us to be happy I've never been so excited in life yet at the same time I've never felt so low at times?? Any help would be greatly appreciated cheers all

Hi @Cormax

Welcome to the SANE forums! It's great to have you here and thanks for telling the community a bit about yourself.   I'm sure the forum members will be able to offer you support, information and connection.

I'm the moderator on duty right now.   Feel free to ask the SANE forum team or the members if you need help with how to use the forum. Re: Needing advice on moving forward

Hi there,

I can relate to your situation. After leaving a very bad 20 yr marriage a few years ago, I finally hit some counseling for the same reason. Turns out I'm in a trauma bond with the ex. After googling what a Trauma Bond is, everything makes so much more sense now, and basically having zero contact (if possible) and understanding that i was not the cause or deserving of their behaviour is helping me. Still triggered at times, but getting better. Worth researching to see if that resonates for you too. Best of luck 🤞
