Re: Changing Medication

Wow 3 years since I was on here,  still struggling with 'treatment resistant depression ' dr wants me to try Ect but i am not keen.

Re: Changing Medication

"Treatment Resistant"? Or is it the docs haven't found what works for you @Janice_22 .

I'm sorry to hear that you feel you haven't made much progress in the last three years. I hope this year will be the beginning of a new beginning?

I'm sure there are other members here who may want to share their experiences of ECT. I haven't had it myself, but I know this was a recent conversation here on the forums.

Re: Changing Medication

How are you @Janice_22 ?

Re: Changing Medication

Not good,  seeing psychiatrist tomorrow about most likely having tardive dyskinesia-he will give me a pill for that and a referral to neurologist I'm so upset about it i feel he broke my trust not warning me of risks

Re: Changing Medication

I'm sorry to hear that you don't feel too good @Janice_22 . Hugs to you.

I'm wondering, would you consider letting him know how you feel about not having been told the risks? I can see how much it has impacted you.

What I have found is that sometimes, if you tell peopel straight, they may have a valid reason (but sometimes they don't have a valid reason).

I look forward to hearing how it goes for you.

Re: Changing Medication

Psychiatrist appointment didn't go well,  told him i was feeling devastated and betrayed that i was not warned of the risks of developing tardive dyskinesia, his response was 'it is unfair of you to blame me' 'it was a low dose' i said how can i trust you now he replied ' don't trust me then'.

I felt he lacked any accountability or empathy for the impact the symptoms are having on me-leading to suicidal thoughts. He prescribed me a medication that may help and contacted a neurologist who can confirm the diagnosis but i have to wait two weeks. I feel the therapeutic relationship has been destroyed by this.

Re: Changing Medication

oh gosh, i'm so sorry to hear how invalidating your psychiatrist was @Janice_22 i can absolutely see why you'd be hurt by this, those are not the sort of words you'd wanna hear from a professional.

would it be possible to request a new psychiatrist? you definitely deserve to feel supported and validated by your support team, not dismissed.

fingers crossed the new meds help out, sending you gentle hugs 💙

Re: Changing Medication

The medication comes with a risk of depression and suicidal thoughts, i already have this so am too scared to take it, tried calling to discuss but didn't call me back. I feel so hopeless.

Re: Changing Medication

Hi @Janice_22 with those potential side effects it's completely understandable that you're wary of taking it and wanting to discuss further. Are you feeling able to call again tomorrow?

I hear you're feeling hopeless right now, so if you'll let me I'm happy to hold some hope for you right now

Re: Changing Medication

Hey @Janice_22 , are you on the new meds now? Hope you are okay. Sounds like a challenging time for you.
