The costs of a funeral aren't just emotional

I know I am probably not the first to think this but the funeral expenses in Australia are a bit out there.  The actual funeral itself can be taxing mentally with a lot of emotional strain, but the financial strain can add to that as well.  I know that this is a cost we must all look at eventually, but nobody really thinks about it until it is necessary.

To put it into comparison it is the cost of a small NEW car depending on the set up of the grave and the funeral.  Some families will spend the same as a NEW large four-wheel drive on a funeral but of course not everyone has lots of money just lying about for a rainy day.  My thinking is if you look into it maybe start planning earlier rather than later because costs and products tend to increase in time.

i hear you, the emotional and financial burden of it is not easy to face. my friend recently had to deal with this, and i can't even imagine how difficult it was for her to deal with this while still processing her loss. 

@Arbie_wun i knew that funerals were expensive, but this post gave me some perspective on how expensive. i think just knowing this information ahead of time helps, so that when the day comes, it's not a big shock that i'll need to process in addition to the grief. thank you for sharing.
