Ah @Former-Member
I am very hard to offend - I remember telling someone during a Night Shift Chat one night - mostly my son is the reason I chose the name - 3 decades is a long time

Hi @Former-Member yes, lived on two different farms til year 8 second one probably from age 5-13 years. Dad worked there, house was supplied.
all sorts of memories, mostly good, well I guess it's my Happy Place in my mind these days when things go off the rails, a safe, beautiful place to rest mind in to to try and get back up and deal with reality..
Notso sure we haven't had this conversation before, and have dragged memories of farm up with others.
Used to walk all day on own, play in equipment sheds, make 'forts' cubbyhouses, help out with chores, stack hay, stack wheat bags, drive utes to feed sheep, oh and the lighthouse that discovered could see from front yard at night. Yorke Peninsula anyway,re seeing lighthouse
I used to think one 'Arbor' (?) Day early 70s was memorable, spring, dandelions out, walking down kilometre maybe dirt track on own. yes, have put this up here before..Rambling..

Hi @Decadian. So sorry to have not thought before I posted such flip comments. I'm embarrassed by my clumsiness and hope I didn't cause you upset.
My goodness, what a life you have lived thus far! They do say "may you live in interesting times", so you have certainly ticked that box. It sounds like it's been a real roller coaster of a ride though. I tip my hat to you as a true veteran of life and clearly someone with amazing perspective and resilience.
Its incredible to read all those world events that you've been witness to. What a rich history. I can't claim to as much, but I do remember the moon landing, putting pennies in gumball machines, the last trams in Brisbane and the day my school friend's dad was mentioned by the headmaster at parade, for winning a VC in Vietnam. My mum also held me up in the crowd to see the Beatles visit, but I was too little to remember unfortunately. 🙂

@Former-MemberYeah, sure memory has ways of pulling things to the front and forgetting others.. best way to be as mum later said we were always fed and clothed. And we did eat well, especially for celebrations/occasions.
Can't forget my Scrooge McDuck comics tho, always somewhere amazing to escape to haha
