Such great suggestions @Jacques - more and more I'm thinking we should have asked this weeks ago, with more time to prepare.

Hi @NikNik
I am back ..
I was a bit disappointed that my choir president didnt take the Out from the shadows .. idea seriously .. and she works in the field .. and knows I was a ward of the state ..she is gorgeous and has been very friendly ..
but she also keeps trying to get me to laugh with her at a rather odd young man in the choir .. (3-4 times) I am polite but detached but I am getting upset as I feel coerced to pick on the odd man out ... which I have never done and dislike intensely.
I also tried to talk about a personality clash that I am having in the choir .. she listened .. but the particular person has been charming her as president .. but not me
I went last night and intend to stick it out til end of year but have asked conductor if I can skip a few rehearsals if necessary.
any ideas ...

@Appleblossom Welcome back 🙂 I don't really have any ideas about how the social dynamics of the choir could be better for you but admire that you are resisting the misdirected laughter. Does that guy have any friends in the choir?

The men "tolerate" him .. with a bit of grumping because he does stick out a bit and attention seeks etc .. but he seems so obviously ill at ease ... one of the men is a psychiatrist .. and we are all trying to socialise him .. he was homeschooled in 3 different countries by a brilliant academic father and is pedantic but is still very isolated and doing a MA ... I made friends with him early as coincidentally we know a mutual "friend" .. the home-school world is small ... his only other friend .. whom he grills me about ... but he is just trying to work out life ... same age as my girls ...
