also just want to remind everyone to start pruning your fruit trees A reminder! pruning can be done on trees of fruit bearing age which is 3 years and older but it is starting to get late you need to do this as soon as possible, people will tell you prune in winter, but it needs to actually be done now, Apricots needs to be done now as this helps reduce gumosis. Gumosis is a disease. the early fruiting trees like stone based fruit your apricots, peaches etc need to be pruned about 3-5 weeks after you have harvested your fruit which for most people is now or has already passed. The reason for this is it allow the trees particularly the peaches to put on some summer/autumn growth that will become your fruit bearing wood in the spring. so, don’t wait until winter, we look at the seasons rather than the names of the seasons and what the weather is doing. As most of these plants originate from places in Europe which here is hotter than yet their winters also colder than ours. so pay attention to where your plants are native to. Because of cold winters and cool spring’s fruit trees are pruned in winter in the north hemisphere in Europe and America, China, etc which is where most of our fruit trees are native to.
