Sorry if i sound a bit 'depressing'. The good news is that the pension is VERY generous in Australia (in my opinion, although I know some people who have very high medication and other bills who struggle on it) and you can do as much work as you like as a volunteer AND have enough money for a modest social life (ditto re pension expenses). The situation is 'ideal' once you have learned how to actually get help, and you're going to need god for that, as a starting point. Beyond one's faith, learning to NOT self-stigmatise, learning how to get the best out of Lifeline (don't self-stigmatise whilst talking to them and DO talk out any frustrations you have with healthcare you have received), learning the get the best out of support workers (only see them when you want to: don't 'let' them talk down to you if at all possible), and connecting with a local mental health drop-in centre (rich sources of support and socialising). At this point in history stigma and discrimination are utterly out-of-control - this is NOT your fault so adjust your life accordingly is my advice, as the 'buggas' are NOT going to give us an even break yet. I hope this advice helps someone.

What a beautiful time of the day. I'm hope my posts don't upset or confuse anyone. I just want people to know that they can have a rich and full life - they just have to make adjustments because of stigma, discrimination and the fact that the mental health system is too flawed. There is a good life waiting for you. Best wishes and god bless.

Hi @Former-Member, good to see you though sorry you are having trouble sleeping. I've been very low today and crying. I've dropped the ball on everything and just haven't been able to avoid feeling low about it. Glad to see your friendly face here tonight.

Hi @Former-Member and @Mazarita
I'm sorry to hear that you've both had hard days/times. It's difficult not to be hard on ourselves, but that doesnt necessarily help us to get back up again... Hoping that some of the anxiety passes soon, is there anything that helps?
Glad you are both on here,
LJ

Hi @Former-Member. Seeing friendly faces on the forum helps. 🙂 Having a cry did get something out of me too. Partner was kind. Also watching some episodes of the netflix show, Grace and Frankie helped. It's fun and poignant, all the characters are in their 70s. Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Martin Sheen and other great familiar actors I don't know off the top of my head. I'm not into much TV at the moment so finding something I like is really good. I also slept a lot today. A sleep often reboots my brain wiring seems to be in a wonky place but today I kept waking up with the same deeply troubled feelings that led to very tired feelings which led me back to sleep a lot. Feeling a bit perkier now that I'm writing here. Tomorrow will be a better day I think.
@Former-Member I was so happy to read on the forum the other night that you are in your new place. That gives me a big grin indeed.

Hi @Mazarita I'm glad that having a cry was comforting and a bit of a release for you. Hopefully you managed a more restful and deeper sleep afterwards as well which is helpful. You seem to know yourself so well and know what to expect and how to cope with the harder days. I really hope that tomorrow is a better day for you.
Yes we are in our new place... still a huge mess and i really havent been able to do much this afternoon to tidy up and unpackmore... hit a wall so to speak. But will try to get on top of it again tomorrow.
Hello @PeppiPatty how are you?
hugs for all!
