I know I can always go to my partner if I need to, but she has a very full mental load and if I can take something off her plate at the moment but still get my need for help met, I think that’s a good thing for both of us,

Good on you @Kintaro . And don't be discouraged if the first appointment isn't 'perfect'. I'd encourage you to be open with them.

it's hit and miss for me. my best experience was that i felt heard and it made me validate what i thought should be the way forward.
