Chronic pain and Mental health

Re: Chronic pain and Mental health

@Shaz51 good evening.

Re: Chronic pain and Mental health

Hi, I have suffered chronic back pain after having 2 back surgeries. I have found the advice of physiotherapist to do minor exercises such as attending hydrtherapy pool and walking and stretching.

Re: Chronic pain and Mental health

How do you get doctors to take

pain seriously when the cause isn't obvious and they know you have mental health issues. I'm sick

of being told it's stress related. I can't live any longer like this.

Re: Chronic pain and Mental health

Hi @Karli
That sounds really difficult, im glad that your physio has been helpful though

Re: Chronic pain and Mental health

Hey @destructive
I honestly dont have the answer to that but i have experiences this many times. It seems once they know you have mental health issues thats the causs the everything.
The dr tried to tell me my mental health was giving me severe cramps needing to go to ed, it wasnt it turned out it is a hernia and a food allergy .

It might be worth seeing a new gp for a fresh perspective and without mentioning mh as well

Re: Chronic pain and Mental health

@outlander @Sorry you've experienced this too.

ive just been to another new GP and same thing. I have lots of anxiety about seeing health professionals so each time is a

mammoth effort.

Re: Chronic pain and Mental health

I understand @destructive
Depending on what is happening you could perhaps seek out a specialist for an opinion. You'd have to pay more without a refferral as it wouldnt be covered by Medicare but if your really worried and its impacting your life it could be worth it
