Hey @Rhymster, insomnia is horrible. Every night is a battle for me and then when I do sleep I find it's not quality sleep. Have you tried different things to help you get to sleep?

@Rhymster that's great that you saw your doctor, I hope the tablets help you. Getting a good night's rest really is so important.

I've got a new bed and new pillow but the worst part is not knowing why the Cortisol is there, how it came about during sleep. I've found myself awake for a whole 8+ hours sweating and feeling the stress in the brain just from waking up to go to the toilet. Then the morning will come and I will spend all day trying to figure out how to catch up on sleep only for it to repeat itself. I don't know which days are good anymore - the one with good sleep or the one where there is no cortisol in the head. Cortisol is the Stress hormone.

I’ve struggled with sleep for a few years now - usually don’t get to bed to even try until well after midnight - last night it was after 3 am and then I’m usually up by about 5.30 - 6.00. I’m dealing with the added impact of perimenopause now as well so I can certainly relate. I’ve found that tablets help me get to sleep but tend to leave me feeling fuzzy and lacking energy the next day and it doesn’t take long for your body to get used to them and need more each time so try to take them sparingly just to help you get into a pattern if possible - I find they’re more affective if I take them every couple of days rather than every night so they work better and still help create a smaller window where I have to try to create better habits and force myself into a routine for sleep.

Hey @BrookeStephens @FearofUnknown @Rhymster @RebelliousAngel ,
Sleep can be a bit of a hit and miss. I used to get so so so stressed out that I wasnt' sleeping until I made up my mind that if I sleep, I sleep, if I don't, then I make up for it another day.
By thinking that way, the stress of not sleeping went away, so that I actually could sleep!
But yes, I have to say I had insomnia for a long time. I had meds, I had everything to try and get to sleep.
