Re: Checking In: Let us know how you're doing

Oh gosh @Shaz51 that sounds horrible - hope you're feeling better.

What are your thoughts about hubby giving up work - good or bad (or both)?

Just about to get dinner out of the oven, see you at Friday Feast soon?

xo

Re: Checking In: Let us know how you're doing

Hi @NikNik,
Thank you so much for checking up on us.
Sorry for the late reply. Life has been, well- hectic lately.
We had a few good months with my brother's illness however, we find he's not doing so well again and it's so very disappointing.😞😞
We had such high hopes after a ghastly few months.
His psych has kept him on the same dose of meds so I don't know what's going on.
Aspects of the co-dependency certainly relate to me. Just finding myself tense and down when I find out my brother is, then almost elated when he's communicative and 'ok'. Most weeks are like this... It's tiring and taking a toll on my own family.
Anyway- that was very kind of you to recommend that book- I have just ordered it!

I hope you are well.
Thanks once again,
BB x

Re: Checking In: Let us know how you're doing

Hi @BlueBird

No worries!
It is really hard when high hopes are dashed. In saying that though - things can change quickly for the better, now just for the worse, which probably doesn't bring much peace of mind, but from what I have learnt from other members here is to just manage the moment. Celebrate and relax when a loved one is doing better, and manage the tricky times when they arise.

Thinking too far ahead can just raise anxieties - which isn't helpful, particularly when you can't do anything much about it.

Re: Checking In: Let us know how you're doing

Thank you again @NikNik
That's good advice. And you're right, I need to try and relinquish some control - something I don't have in the first place!
Things have been up and down so frequently of late. I'm trying to learn how to 'compartmentalise.
It will take time but I'm working on it.
🙂

Re: Checking In: Let us know how you're doing

Hello @Bluebird15

how hve you been @Bluebird15

Re: Checking In: Let us know how you're doing

Oh thank you @Shaz51,
Not too bad of late, although my brother's depression has sent us all on an emotion roller coaster. I'm am so, so grateful for the good days and just the fact that there ARE good days at least but still so many low days as well 😞
I've been told to lower my expectations of his mood, as in I should try not to pin all my high hopes on how his behaviour will be say on a family get together or meet up or Christmas.
Then if he is low and holed up in his room - perhaps it won't hurt so much ...?
Anyway - I'm rambling !
Thanks for checking up on me!
